I very much like this picture of Jeremy Renner.

I’ve always wondered why she does that! She does it even when it’s unnecessary! Is she overacting or is it just an unintentional habit?

This quote needs to be spread around more; I don’t think enough people understand this.
I lost all interest for the Les Misérables movie musical when I heard the songs were recorded live on-set. THAT’S THE #1 WAY TO MAKE A MOVIE MUSICAL FAIL!!!!! Doing that calls for lousy performances, especially when musicals often require movement. There’s nothing entertaining about having an actor sit down to sing their song properly, regardless if the he/she is showing lots of facial expressions for the camera. Scenes with lots of movement, such as dance numbers, are nearly impossible to film when the actors are also required to sing. Come on, people like musicals for being more than just vocal performances! Live-recording hurts performances and song numbers end up falling flat. When making musicals and even music videos, one shouldn’t fear post-production dubbing. Oh, and you get the best sound within a recording room.
Tom Hooper, you should be learning from Robert Altman and Peter Bogdanovich’s mistakes when they made Popeye and At Long Last Love.
